Halloween Dresden Placemat
Dresden Placemat has been given a Halloween makeover with this Halloween Dresden Placemat. Thanks for all the positive feedback on the pretty Dresden Placemats I made for a special afternoon tea. It is fun to adapt patterns for other occasions. Everyone needs a Halloween Dresden Placemat, right?
This placemat coordinates with the Halloween Cottage I made earlier this month. I bought a charm square pack of Goose Tales by J Wecker Frisch for Riley Blake Designs. It featured a number of small scale halloween prints in shades of pumpkin, grey, and black, so was perfect for these projects. I have some fabric left over for future halloween projects. Charms Squares are so versatile for these smaller projects.
I used four charm squares for the applique foundation. I simply sewed them together and then rotated the larger square approximately 30 degrees, and then cut out the hexagon. I love the effect a patchwork foundation gives to the Halloween Dresden Placemat project.
Dresden placemats are perfectly sized to use as a mug rug, or placemat. I am currently using mine as a doiley on my hall table, where it is ready to hold the bowl of candy for our neighbourhood trick or treaters.
